Orient-Macksburg Library Plant Sale fundraiser will continue from 10AM-1PM with locally grown perennials.

In Lamoni, the Civil War Days Reenactment and Living History battle at 11AM, located one mile west of town, north of Rose Hill Cemetery and east of Home Pond.

In Greenfield, the Nodaway Valley High School will hold graduation at 2:30PM.

In Mount Ayr at the old lake, Ringgold Outdoor Alliance will host a kid’s fishing tournament from 2-4PM with food and prizes.

In Winterset, the grand opening of the Iowa Theater will screen John Wayne’s 1939 “Stagecoach” at 7PM followed by discussion and book signing.

In Winterset, the opening of the Iowa Theater will continue with the screening of John Wayne’s 1948 “Fort Apache” at 7PM followed by discussion and book signing.

A Country Barn Dance will be held at the Madison County Fairgrounds from 7-11PM.

In Elk Horn, Tivoli Fest 2017 will be held to celebrate Danish Heritage with parade at 11AM and many other activities.

 

Saturday, May 27

In Ellston, the Ellston Ladies American Legion Auxiliary will host a fund raising breakfast from 9AM-11AM at the new Ellston American Legion Building. The public is invited to eat and enjoy the new facility.

In Grand River, a Memorial Pancake Breakfast will be served at the Grand River Community Center from 7:30AM-10:30AM. The Grand River Country School Museum will also be open for tours from 9AM-11AM.

In Winterset, the John Wayne 5K Run/Walk will be held at 9AM at the John Wayne Statue with registration beginning at 7:30AM. A horse parade will be held at 11AM to celebrate the John Wayne Birthplace Museum.

In Diagonal, the Alumni Banquet will be held at 6:30PM. All graduates and friends of the community are invited.

Mount Ayr will hold their Alumni Reunion at the Mount Ayr Community High School with social at 5PM and dinner at 6PM.

In Fontanele the 115th annual Fontanelle Alumni Banquet will be held at the Nodaway Valley Middle School gym with social at 5:30PM and dinner at 6:30PM.

The Afton Alumni Banquet will be held at the Lakeshore Golf & Country Club with doors opening at 6PM and dinner at 7PM.

The 2017 Lorimor/Thayer Alumni Banquet will be held at the Lorimor Community Center with school tour at 4PM, doors opening at 5PM, and dinner at 6PM.

Near Orient at the Henry Wallace Center, the 2017 Zion School Reunion Banquet will be held with social at 4:30PM and dinner at 5:30PM.

In Creston at the Crestmoor Golf Course, SWCC’s Athletic Department will host the 18th annual 4-person best shot Golf Tournament with tee times at 8AM and 2PM.

In Grand River, the Grand River Alumni annual reunion will be held at 12 noon at the Grand River Community Center. The Grand River Country School Museum will also be open during the reunion.

In Benton, the Benton Alumni Banquet will be held at 1PM at the Waubonsie Center for all who wnt to the Benton School.

In Greenfield at the Greenfield Cemetery, a Memorial service with the Avenue of Flags will begin at 10AM, music provided by the Nodaway Valley High School band.

In Creston, the Crest Area Theatre will hold auditions for its upcoming musical Godspell on May 30th and June 1st at 7:00PM at the Performing Arts Center (YMCA) for actors and actresses ages 16-30. Bring a piece to sing and be prepared for movement.

St Charles will host a two-day city wide garage sale on Friday and Saturday.

From Bethany, MO to Osceola, IA Jefferson Hwy 69 will host “Junkin’ On Jefferson” with junk shop specials and garage sales, including Osceola’s “Crazy Days”, continuing Friday through Sunday.

In Winterset at the North Shelter in the Winterset City Park a free concert by the Hot Tamales and the Red Hots will be held.

Ellston’s June Jamboree will begin with a hamburger supper & music while BBQ teams set-up.

 

Saturday, June 3

In Ellston, the June Jamboree Jog a 5mi/3mi/or 1mi run/walk will be held at 9AM at the Sun Valley Clubhouse with 8:30AM registration. A Community Building Breakfast will be held from 7AM-9AM with vendors, antique tractor and car show, quilt show, pioneer museum tours, kid activities, owl presentation, kids pedal pull, face painting, bags tournament, ice cream social, Country Classic Band, and BBQ awards and meal.

The Winterset Public Library will host “Touch a Truck” from 10AM-Noon with exploring a  tractor, snowplow, fire engine, police car, pet resue van, school bus, semi cab, and more.

The Macksburg United Methodist Church will be the site of the Macksburg Alumni Banquet with social at 5PM and dinner at 6PM.

Truro will hold a 2-day city-wide garage sale on Saturday and Sunday.

In Mount Ayr, the Mount Ayr American Legion will host a Wine & Canvas fundraiser from 6PM-9PM.

In Winterset, the Middle River cleanup will be hosted by the Madison County River Alliance.

In Greenfield at the Adair County Health and Fitness Center, an event “Time without Electronics” will begin at 4PM with snacks, crafts, games, Bingo, scavenger hunt, and more.
